Whether they are tricks or treats, there are plenty of Halloween events in southern Lincoln County.

Among them are the store to store event on Mineral Avenue in Libby and a Trunk or Treat in Troy.

To celebrate the holiday the City of Libby will close Mineral Avenue and welcome trick-or-treaters from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m on Monday, Oct. 31. The event is free to attend.

The trick-or-treat store to store event is long-running and planned by the Libby Area Business Association. Initially it was started by Mark and Amber Managhan.

Now, it’s been going “at least seven years, if not more,” said Gail Burger, president of the Libby Area Business Association.

Burger said that some years the event hosts 500 kids. Kids are able to trick or treat from store to store and businesses outside of the area are encouraged to set up booths. Some use the back of cars to “trunk or treat,” Burger said.

There is also a decorating contest that is ongoing until a winner is announced on Halloween. This contest is held by the business association as well, and those wanting to enter the contest can send in a picture of a decorated house or business that is within city limits to the Libby Area Business Association Facebook.

Also, the Libby House of Horror in the Mercantile Building is running each evening, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. through Oct. 31.

Admission is $2 each or two cans of food that will be donated to the Libby Food Pantry.

Also, the Kootenai Valley Rotary Club is hosting its trunk or treat event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 at 724 Louisiana Avenue.

Those looking for Halloween fun in Troy can head over to the Troy Airport’s walking path from 7 p.m to 9 p.m on Saturday, Oct. 29. The walk will feature local businesses that will run Halloween booths to help the high school look to raise awareness and money for a new track.

The pathway surrounding the Troy Airport will have sections decorated by community members, churches, or businesses free of charge. The booths will distribute frights and treats at every turn.

There will be an attendance fee of $5 for students and $10 for adults.

On Monday, Oct. 31, Troy Area Dispatch and Troy Police Department is hosting a trunk or treat event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Troy Activity Center.

There will be prizes for best costumes and best car/trunk decorations.
