Libby's Vincent third at Western Fall Classic

Libby sophomore cross country runner Madison Vincent was in the hunt at Saturday’s Western A Fall Classic at East Glacier Golf Course.

Vincent was third overall, running a 20:16.05, a personal best. She was just a little more than 20 seconds behind winner Laurie Davidson, a junior from Corvallis. Davidson’s 19:55.87 helped Corvallis win the girls team title with 46 points, ahead of runner-up Columbia Falls.

Individually, Polson senior Ashtyn Wagner finished third in 20:14.07, just two seconds ahead of Vincent.

Libby was ninth as a team with 200 points. Senior Aurora Smith was 32nd in 23:51.09.

In the boys race, the Loggers were ninth. Whitefish was first.

Sophomore Rowen Sherbo led Libby with a 29th in 18:48.09. Junior Greysen Thompson was 40th in 19:22.49.

In the junior varsity events, junior Jossalyn White was Libby’s top female runner, placing 26th in 29:44.08. For the boys, junior Casey Rusdal was 54th in 23:48.03.

Cross country wraps up Saturday with the state championships at the University of Montana Golf Course in Missoula.

The Class A girls race is at 11:35 a.m. while the Class A boys race is at 12:40 p.m.
