A realignment of Class B tennis teams this year could mean a lot more time on the road for the Troy Trojans.

The Trojans remain in the Western B Division along with old foes Bigfork and St. Ignatius. New to the division are Joplin-Iverness and Chester. Take a look at that roadmap.

The Trojans began practicing on March 14.

“Because of prior commitments,” said coach Milo Rogers, not everyone was available to start preparing immediately.

“When it’s all settled, we should have seven or eight [players] total,” he said.

Returning to the team are senior Abigail Osborn and sophomore Devynn Cummings. The doubles pair qualified for he state tournament last year.

Also returning is junior Winter Sedler. Sedler qualified for the state in the singles competition.

Sophomore Sierra Gardner rounds out the list of returning veterans.

Freshman Dayton Johnson is also out for the team. Rogers has high hopes for the young athlete.

“This past summer, we’d have open tennis on Tuesday and Thursday evening,” Rogers said. “Dayton consistently showed up. I hope to see him continue to improve.”

Considering the season ahead, Rogers said he looked forward to matching up against Joplin-Iverness and Chester.

“It certainly presents a challenge,” he said. “We’ve never competed against them before. It’ll be fun to see what happens.”
