Libby man dies in motorcycle crash on U.S. 2

A 33-year-old Libby man died Wednesday night after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident in Lincoln County.

According to Montana Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Yamaha 6 motorcycle west on U.S. 2 near milemarker 71.5 at about 9:01 p.m. when he began to pass a pickup truck in a no passing zone on a left curve. The driver lost control and slid 260 feet.

The man was pronounced dead after receiving about one hour of medical attention.

According to MHP, speed and alcohol are suspected factors in the crash. He was not wearing a helmet. The road conditions were bare and dry.
