Cougars top Trojans in 72-30 win
Though the Troy Trojans kept it close early on against Stillwater Christian, the Cougars pulled away with the 72-30 win on Feb. 1.
“Like a number of our games this year, we were able to compete and keep it close in the first quarter,” said Troy coach Justin Young after the loss.
Michael Foote earned the early points for Troy, including landing a three-pointer. With the Trojans down by two points in the closing minute of the first quarter, two Troy turnovers led to Cougar baskets. The quarter ended with Stillwater leading 17-10.
“Inconsistent shooting and long stretches without points continue to plague us,” Young said.
Troy scored a total of 20 points over the next three quarters as Stillwater cruised to the 72-30 win.
Troy’s Paxton Fisher finished with 17 points, more than half of the Trojans’ points, and led his teammates in rebounds. Foote netted eight points while Trevor Grant came away with three. On the Cougars side, Luke Frampton scored 15 and Blake Prewitt put away 12 points.
Troy finished up 6-15 from the free throw line while the Cougars went 2-5.
