City crews fixing leaks after water shutoff
Libby’s water system experienced five leaks following a scheduled shutoff earlier this month.
City Administrator Jim Hammons told Libby City Council on Sept. 20 that all but two of the leaks were fixed. One was located near Mineral Avenue and the other on Louisiana Avenue, he said.
“If we don’t get any more, that will be a good thing,” Hammons said.
Officials shut off the city’s water supply for a roughly six-hour period starting Sept. 13. It preceded the installation of a transmission main from the city’s water treatment plant to the Cedar Street pressure reducing station. Noble Excavating carried out the work for City Hall.
A temporary boil order placed on Libby residents was lifted Sept. 15.
