Columbia Falls sweeps Libby in soccer action
COLUMBIA FALLS — Kai Golan lit up the scoreboard with six goals for the Columbia Falls Wildcats on Friday in an 8-0 victory over the Libby Loggers.
“He’s obviously a very special player and he’s a key to our team not just offensively but defensively,” coach O’Brien Byrd said. “Tonight he just took over and there was nothing they could do to stop it. I hope he continues it through the season … A very special night at the office.”
Golan had a hat trick in both halves of the game, and assisted on Dale Blickhan’s goal in the 9th minute. Blickhan assisted on three of Golan’s goals.
Nico Lang had two assists for the 6-1-1 Wildcats. Bryce Dunham made five saves in the shutout.
Columbia Falls' girls also enjoyed success against Libby. Six different Wildkat players scored in a 10-0 rout of Northwest A foe Libby on Friday.
“It was great to see our entire team get valuable minutes and awesome to see some seniors like Alexis Green and Morgan McAleavey get goals,” coach Thomas Clark said.
Cheyanne Johnston-Heinz had a hat trick and one assist, and Maddie Robison scored two goals and had two assists. Hope McAtee had a goal and two assists. McAleavey added an assist. The Wildkats are 6-2.
