Lincoln County Public Notification 10/26/2021 Bobtail Area Fall Management Burns Private landowners participating in the Lincoln County Kootenai Forest to Rivers (KFRI) cost-share fuel reduction program in the Bobtail area near Libby will be burning slash piles between October 27th and November 10th depending on weather conditions. Smoke from slash pile burning may impact the Bobtail and Pipe Creek areas, and possibly the Rawlings Tracts and River Road areas. Slash burning is a management tool to reduce logging debris and hazardous fuels during hazardous fuel reduction activities. Slash burning is planned in the following areas: Hutton Drive and Bobtail Lane. Smoke will be visible from Libby and has the potential to impact the Bobtail, Pipe Creek and Rawlings Tracts areas. All fall management burns in the Libby Air Pollution Control District must comply with air quality regulations, which are guided and monitored by the Montana/Idaho State Airshed Group and the Lincoln County Health Department. Understanding that smoky conditions can be unpleasant, burning will take place when air dispersion and weather forecasts are favorable. Every effort is made to mitigate smoke effects and reduce impacts to the public. Please take extra care if traveling in the Bobtail, Pipe Creek and Rawlings Tracts areas when smoke is present. Additional notifications will be posted on the Lincoln County Emergency Management Facebook Page.
