Daniel Earl DeShazer, 86

Daniel Earl DeShazer, 86, returned to the loving arms of his heavenly father on Sept. 27, 2021, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after a battle with COVID-19. He was born March 14, 1935, near Rexford to Earl Olin DeShazer and Edna Margaret Smith.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved walking in the forest. He would take his dog, Snoopy, in a boat on the lakes. Snoopy would lean over the edge of the boat and fall into the water. Dan would go back and pull him out and into the boat. He spent many happy hours with his dog Snoopy.

Dan worked for St. Regis Paper Co. and Champion International for 34 years and then for Plum Creek mill in Fortine until he retired in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Olin DeShazer and Edna Margaret Smith; his brothers, Bill DeShazer, Raymond DeShazer and Gary DeShazer; and his sister, Shirley Urdahl.

Dan is survived by his wife, Iva DeShazer; a brother, Robert “Bob” DeShazer (Pat); sons, Rusty and Ricky DeShazer (Janet); daughters, Fraye DeShazer ( Dave) and Donna DeShazer (David Strand); grandchildren, Brittney, Zach and Colten DeShazer, Brandon DeShazer, Chris and Mickey Strand, and Jennifer Strand Taylor.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m., Oct. 28.
