Libby senior Bethany Thomas, a key infielder for the Lady Loggers, will continue her softball career at Concordia University.

Thomas signed her letter of intent on May 19. She said she will play in a middle infield position for the Bulldogs. While Thomas has not had a chance to tour the college in-person, she has coordinated closely with coaches and heard great things about the program.

Thomas’s parents, who sat beside her while she signed, were thrilled by her decision.

“It feels like there is a lump in my throat,” said Lisa Thomas.

Steven Thomas, Bethany Thomas’s father, said the signing indicated his daughter’s hard work was paying off. She picked up a softball at the age of four and never stopped playing, he said.

Coach Dean Thompson likewise commended Bethany Thomas’s commitment to the game. In addition to racking up runs and making plays for the Lady Loggers in the spring, Bethany Thomas stayed sharp during offseasons by attending open gyms.

“She’s just a hard working kid,” said Thompson.
