Substitute teachers, seasonal workers will see bump in pay
Libby Public School board members have approved a bump in pay for certain employees.
Board members passed rate increases for substitutes and temporary seasonal summer maintenance workers during a March 8 meeting.
Effective April 1, the district will boost the daily wages of substitute teachers by $10. Non-certified substitutes will receive $80 a day. Certified substitutes are set to collect $90 daily. Former Libby Public School employees who are certified can expect $95 a day.
Hourly substitute personnel will see a $1 jump in their wages to $10 an hour. Starting this summer, seasonal workers will also see a $1 increase in their rates to $10.50 an hour.
The mean hourly wage for substitute teachers in Montana in May 2019 was $10.65, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The current state minimum wage is $8.75.
