Disturbance

Libby police officers headed to Utah Avenue after 911 operators received a call punctuated by screaming. The individual making the call reported getting attacked by a woman and subsequently bleeding from the head. First responders later transported one individual for medical care.

9:42 a.m.

Suspicious person

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies took one individual to a motel room after receiving a report of a man sleeping in a semi-trailer truck.

10:15 a.m.

Criminal mischief

Libby police officers investigated a case of criminal mischief.

10:59 a.m.

Fraud

Libby police officers took a report of unemployment fraud.

Theft

A woman reported the theft of her medication from her vehicle near Mineral Avenue.

3:43 p.m.

Assault

Authorities responded to an assault in the Lincoln County Detention Center.

7:36 p.m.

Traffic violation

A woman told Libby police officers that another motorist ran through the stop sign at the intersection of California Avenue and 2nd Street, nearly running her off the road.

10:23 p.m.

Runaway

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies returned a wayward teenager home after his mother told authorities he never came back from school. She suspected he was at a friend’s house.

Public safety

A pedestrian received instructions on how to safely walk along the road after an individual reported her nearly getting hit by a vehicle along state Highway 37.

Criminal mischief

Libby police officers trespassed an individual from a local motel after he allegedly damaged one of the rooms.

2:21 a.m.

City ordinance violation

Libby police officers reminded a juvenile of the city’s curfew after coming across a pair of males near the intersection of Mineral Avenue and 5th Street.

10:14 a.m.

Animal complaint

A Pinewood Village area resident reported an aggressive dog. Described as “small,” the dog confronted the resident while he was on his way home.

10:19 a.m.

Theft

A Timber Lane resident reported the theft of a package. The resident suspected a relative stole it.

1:24 p.m.

Disturbance

Libby police officers headed to a local school after a student became “aggressive.”

2:15 p.m.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies headed to Timber Lane for a report of a disturbance.

2:51 p.m.

Criminal trespass

Libby police officers headed to a local eatery after an ex-employee forced her way into the building and threatened her former coworkers.

Animal complaint

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies headed to the intersection of Montana Avenue and 5th Street for a report of dogs attacking deer. One dog was taken to the shelter.

1:27 a.m.

Traffic accident

First responders headed to 5th Street for a report of a late model Ford Mustang crashing into a fence.

8:20 a.m.

Public safety

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a situation in the Yaak where a man allegedly entered a fire department vehicle and transmitted a request for additional agencies to respond to the scene of an accident.

10:30 a.m.

City ordinance violation

Libby police officers headed to California Avenue for an alleged city ordinance violation.

10:50 a.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

An individual asked to speak with law enforcement regarding third-hand information about threats being made against their son.

12:50 p.m.

Criminal trespass

A California Avenue property owner reported seeing a man urinate on their property the day prior. The man had returned to the scene.

4:35 p.m.

Drugs, drug paraphernalia

An individual reported finding a used syringe near a gas station.

Dec. 19

2:06 p.m.

Burglary

A Park Street resident told Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies that his neighbor’s home had been burglarized the night prior.

6:51 p.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies headed to Yaak River Road for a report of a man who had blocked a driveway and was making threats against his girlfriend.

11:42 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Seth Varnum, 42, on multiple charges after responding to a disturbance on Sherman Drive. A woman called 911 earlier in the evening to report an individual with a gun attempting to get into the home. A single shot allegedly was fired into the home after an altercation.

12:01 a.m.

Fire

Libby Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to a fully involved vehicle fire near East Poplar Street.

5:15 a.m.

Criminal trespass

An East Lincoln Boulevard resident told authorities that a woman had broken into her home and slept on the couch.

12:26 p.m.

Traffic violation

Authorities in Troy alerted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office that a vehicle traveling at speeds above 100 miles per hour was headed toward Libby.

2:42 p.m.

Criminal trespass

An individual at a local lodging house found drugs and discovered a woman trespassing on the property.

7:11 p.m.

Suspicious vehicle

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a report of a vehicle left in the woods near Cody Creek. The vehicle was covered with tarps and it looked like a hose was attached to the exhaust. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

7:18 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance at Park Street.

8:23 p.m.

Firearms

A resident reported hearing four gunshots near her house.
