2:03 a.m.

Suspicious person

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies launched an ill-fated search for a man on a bicycle lacking lights riding along U.S. Highway 2.

5:56 a.m.

Criminal trespass

First responders took a motorist to a local medical center after responding to Luscher Drive for a report of a vehicle in the driveway. The caller told authorities the vehicle had been parked there for about 30 minutes. Responding Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the man asleep inside the vehicle. He then became agitated.

Public assistance

Libby police officers tried to make contact with an Idaho Avenue homeowner after finding their flag flying upside down.

10:47 a.m.

Animal complaint

Authorities received a welfare check request on a dog left outside near the intersection of 10th Street and Louisiana Avenue. The caller said the dog barked constantly and it seemed as though its owners did not care for it.

11:18 a.m.

Probation, parole violation

Law enforcement personnel were requested at the adult probation office for a report of a man causing a disturbance.

12:17 p.m.

Criminal trespass

A Three Corners Trailer Mobile Home Park resident reported a woman coming onto her property. She did not see the woman, but her daughter did and described the interloper as tall in stature. Several pieces of property were now missing.

Criminal trespass

A local merchant told Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies that a woman had confronted her in her store. The woman later revealed she had recorded the interaction. The merchant wanted to speak with a deputy about the legality of the recording and about securing a no trespass order.

12:51 p.m.

Suspicious activity

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies headed up to the Yaak for a report of remains left inside feedbags tossed into a garbage container. The individual who came across the remains was concerned about poachers. Authorities suspected the offal came from a local butcher.

Criminal trespass

A Crossover Road resident reported a squatter.

Public safety

Residents living near the intersection of 5th Street and Louisiana Avenue asked for extra patrols to cut down on speeding vehicles.

8:55 p.m.

Fire

First responders headed to a vehicle fire near Thirsty Lake Road.

9:24 p.m.

Suspicious activity

A Granite Creek Road resident told authorities that he suspected an individual had entered his home and “destroyed” it. He also relayed his concern about his wife’s absence, though he did not know if his missing spouse had anything to do with the break-in.

Suspicious activity

A Three Corners Road resident reported a rhythmic beating noise. It was not the sound of firewood being chopped. The resident later told authorities that the noise stopped about 10 minutes afterwards.

Suspicious vehicle

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies checked out a motorist after responding to a suspicious vehicle report at a local big box retailer.

March 4

10:13 a.m.

Traffic violation

Libby police officers responded to a report of unlicensed juveniles driving four-wheelers near a local school.

11:01 a.m.

Public assistance

A county resident reported catching several cats fighting. Dispatchers told her that animal control does not handle felines. The woman appeared unhappy with the answer, but agreed to reach out to a local nonprofit shelter.

12:14 p.m.

Fraud

Libby police officers investigated a bad check at Libby City Court.

12:40 p.m.

Theft

A tenant staying at a campground in the Yaak told authorities someone had stolen game cams from his home. The locks to the building were broken. He suspected it was the landlord and her son.

1:59 p.m.

Suspicious activity

A motorist at the U.S. Post Office in Libby told authorities that a woman tried to get into her car. The woman appeared to be distressed or intoxicated. Responding police officers were unable to find the woman.

2:33 p.m.

Fire

Libby Volunteer Fire Department crews headed to a Main Avenue home for a report of a structure fire.

2:42 p.m.

Probation, parole violation

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies headed to a local motel to locate a man wanted for a probation check.

3:10 p.m.

Animal complaint

An Upper Flower Creek Road resident told authorities that her neighbor’s dog killed her chicken.

Authorities headed to the Bull Lake area for a probation check.

4:23 p.m.

911 call

Authorities received a call from an individual who had received the second COVID-19 vaccine dose and was not feeling well.

8 p.m.

Animal complaint

An Airport Way resident told authorities that a dog had been locked up in a neighbor’s house all day. The neighbor left the previous night and had not returned. The neighbor’s boyfriend had told the resident to break into the home to let the dog out. The dog owner returned bout 8:18 p.m.

9:22 p.m.

Ambulance

An inmate at the Lincoln County Detention Center was taken to an area medical center after suffering from leg injuries.

10:44 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Kearney Avenue for a report of a man attacking a woman. The 911 caller told authorities that the man had strangled the woman as well. He reported trying to fight the man and eventually succeeded in extricating the woman from her attacker.

11:55 p.m.

Suspicious person

A Vicks Drive resident reported spotting a man, possibly intoxicated, walking through their yard.
