Although the Loggers boys and girls tennis teams fell to their Hamilton counterparts last week, Libby came away from the season opener with victories in the doubles categories.

The girls team fell 4-3 to the Broncs while the boys lost 6-1 during the March 26 matches in Polson.

Ryker McElmurry and Ryan Collins took home a win for the Loggers in the top boys doubles category. The two beat Hamilton’s Liam O’Connell and Jackson Heath 6-2 and 6-4.

The Libby girls swept their doubles matches. Laneigha Zeiler and Elise Erickson clinched a win in the top girls double category with 6-2 and 6-4 wins against Maria Kanenwisher and Brynn Lentola.

In the second doubles class, Libby’s Ruby Martin and Sally Weber beat Madeline Devall and Emma Hollingsworth. Lady Loggers Bella Covington and Macey Halvorson secured a win against Anna Twardoski and Gwen Wolfe.

The tennis team will go on to play Troy away on April 9.
