Local health officials released new active novel coronavirus case figures for Lincoln County on Sept. 2.

Officials identified two new individuals infected with the virus: a man in his 20s and a woman in her 60s. Authorities are unsure how the man contracted the virus. The woman was in contact with a known COVID-19 patient.

Both are symptomatic.

There are four active cases of the coronavirus in Lincoln County, down from six on Aug. 31. However, one of the current patients has since been hospitalized, officials said.

Overall, the county has seen 91 cases and two deaths related to COVID-19 since the pandemic began. The bulk of the cases have appeared in Libby, which was home to a COVID-19 cluster earlier in the summer.

As of Aug. 31, county officials conducted 4,802 tests — 660 in August alone.
