Traffic stop
Libby police officers cited a motorist for driving with a suspended license and gave them a warning for expired registration following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dakota Avenue and 9th Street.

Fire
First responders were called to mile marker two of Kootenai River Road for a report of an electric pole on fire.
10:13 a.m.
Animal complaint
A West 2nd Street Extension resident reported that a neighbor's dogs were barking continuously.
10:16 a.m.
Drugs, drug paraphernalia
Lincoln County Sheriff's Office deputies investigated a drug case.

A caller reported finding drug paraphernalia in bushes near Mineral Avenue.
11:33 a.m.
Unattended death
Authorities responded to a report of a possibly dead man on Piney Drive.
12:10 p.m.
Theft
A caller reported suffering wounds during a fight with a roommate about a week ago. After returning from a camping trip, she discovered that he had stolen a few of her belongings.
1:27 p.m.
911 call
Authorities received a 911 call from a motorist who had locked his dog in his car on 9th Street.

Civil complaint
A U.S. Highway 2 resident told authorities that they planned to several trees on their property cut down. Several of the tree tops extend into the neighbor's property. The neighbor, though, had taken out a no trespass order against them.

Libby police officers investigated a possible city trash or junk ordinance violation on Melanie Lane.

Libby police officers warned a Dakota Avenue resident for posting signs in the public right of way.

Assault
A caller reported that her ex-boyfriend had driven over her foot while taking their child. Lincoln County Sheriff's Office deputies detained the man near Granite Creek and Bowker Street. The child was given into the care of a relative.
7:23 p.m.
Public safety
A caller reported vehicles parking near mile marker 43 of U.S. Highway 2 so the occupants could look at a dead bear left roadside.

Public safety
A Montana Avenue resident told authorities that a motorist was speeding through the neighborhood. When she asked the driver to slow down, he cursed at her.
8:15 p.m.
Criminal trespass
A caller reported possible prowlers in a lot near Avenue B and Education Way. While the caller did not know the property owners, he suspected the juveniles allegedly trespassing did not own the land.
8:16 p.m.
Traffic stop
Libby police officers cited a motorist for driving with studded tires near the intersection of California and 5th Street. The motorist received a warning for not switching to a Montana driver's license.
9:08 p.m.
Traffic stop
Libby police officers arrested Kevin Kahle, 28, on charges of aggravated driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop near the intersection of Mineral Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard.
9:37 p.m.
Minor in possession of intoxicant
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies cited a minor for possession possession of alcohol or an intoxicant on 9th Street.
10:32 p.m.
Civil complaint
A Spencer Road resident told authorities that there is an individual at her rental unit that is not on the lease. She wanted the individual gone. The person later left.
10:46 p.m.
Fire
Libby Volunteer Fire Department crews headed to a reported fire near mile marker 2 of the Jennings Haul Road. After handing the fire off to the U.S. Forest Service, authorities learned of another potential fire about a quarter mile away.
11:39 p.m.
Disturbance
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies received multiple reports of screaming and possibly shots fired near Soaring Eagle Trail. Responding deputies did not find anything amiss.
Aug. 26
12:58 a.m.
Public assistance
A woman called a local medical facility to inquire after her pregnant daughter. The woman reported receiving a call from Amtrak personnel letting her know that her daughter had departed the train in Libby after her water broke. Libby police officers checked the train station, but to no avail. Authorities later located the pregnant woman at a medical facility in Whitefish.
9:45 a.m.
Scam
A caller told authorities that scammers phoned her mother repeatedly, telling her that she won $1 million. They asked her to send a check for $5,500 and the woman did so. The caller believed the check had been cancelled.
11:50 a.m.
Harassment, threat, intimidation
Adult protective services called with a report of an elderly woman living with family, but claimed to be scared of her son and grandchildren.
12:45 p.m.
Ambulance call
Libby Volunteer Ambulance Service crews responded to the alleyway behind Mineral Avenue for a report of a man in his 70s suffering from what looked to be a heart attack.
2:24 p.m.
Harassment, threat, intimidation
A Troy resident claimed that neighbors were harassing him.
2:54 p.m.
Public assistance
Authorities received word that vehicles were parking on both sides of U.S. Highway 2 by the Kootenai Falls.
3:57 p.m.
Traffic violation
A caller reported a woman in a black BMW with local plates cut him off twice on U.S. Highway 2. Local authorities gave the report to Montana Highway Patrol.
4:02 p.m.
Scam
A Libby resident brought in a check from the U.S. Department of Treasury. The individual said it was the second check they had received and thought it might be a scam.
4:56 p.m.
Civil complaint
An individual told authorities that another person tried to trick him out of a mobile phone.
5:30 p.m.
Disturbance
A 911 caller reported seeing a couple fighting with a man on a bicycle near U.S. Highway 2.
5:44 p.m.
Civil complaint
A Spencer Hill Road resident asked for police assistance in securing DVDs from their daughter.
6:05 p.m.
Disturbance
Libby police officers responded to a report of a disturbance.
6:16 p.m.
Fish and game
A 5th Street Extension resident reported seeing dogs chasing deer and, later, eating carcasses. The caller described it as an ongoing problem.
7:30 p.m.
Public assistance
Libby police officers responded to Commerce Way for a report of a 6-year-old child with their foot stuck in a bicycle. The child’s foot was eventually freed.
8:19 p.m.
Unattended death
Authorities responded to an unattended death on Bull Lake Road.
8:39 p.m.
Disturbance
A Frazey Loop resident told authorities that a neighbor took an axe to another neighbor’s home and then left the scene with a firearm.
9:06 p.m.
Public assistance
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of an overdue fisherman. The 80-year-old man was out, possibly with a fishing guide, on the Kootenai River.
