Trust the medical experts and look out for the community

To the editor:

This is a copy of the message I left on the phone of our commissioner, Mark Peck, on August 4, 2020: I think we need to listen to the health and science experts regarding the COVID-19 virus. They have spent their lives studying disease. I trust them.

Our economy will never improve until this virus is controlled — by wearing masks and having access to early test results. This issue should never be political. The entire United States of America needs to be represented by the elected officials.

This is not a hoax. It shouldn’t be that difficult to wear a mask or stay home. Why can’t we? Remember how some people acted when they couldn’t smoke in public? Remember when seat belts were required?

If wearing a mask and washing our hands and staying a safe distance apart for a short time will get us past this pandemic, why not?

It is now October and I don’t see much of any improvement. Let’s all give it a good try, if not for ourselves, then for our friends, family and neighbors around us. Why not?
