Firearms

A U.S. Highway 2 resident reported hearing gunshots near her residence.

7:43 a.m.

Criminal trespass

Libby police officers escorted a reported “transient” from a shelter on Mineral Avenue.

9:20 a.m.

Fraud

A Libby entrepreneur told authorities that a scammer had hijacked the company’s phone number, using it to make calls to area residents. The scammer was posing as an official with the IRS.

9:25 a.m.

Suspicious activity

A bank employee told Libby police officers that a woman was circling the financial institution on bicycle, soliciting money from customers.

10:28 a.m.

Criminal mischief

A caller reported finding graffiti on the building of a Mineral Avenue business.

12:09 p.m.

Animal complaint

A Frazey Loop resident reported a neighbor’s dog for defecating in his yard.

1:04 p.m.

Theft

A caller reported that a woman already trespassed from an area supermarket had returned to the store and shoplifted goods.

1:10 p.m.

Public assistance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies received word of a disoriented man outside of the Lincoln County Courthouse.

Theft

A Three Corners Road resident reported the theft of medications.

2:09 p.m.

Probation, parole violation

Dispatchers in Eureka reported holding a man, who had been imbibing, in detention.

2:38 p.m.

Public safety

Libby police officers searched for a red pickup truck driven by a man who reportedly had been imbibing. The motorist likely was headed for a liquor store.

3 p.m.

Theft

A gas station attendant told Libby police officers that a previously trespassed woman had returned and shoplifted goods. Officers caught up with the suspected woman down the street and put her in detention.

3:18 p.m.

Civil complaint

A man asked for a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputy to standby while he attempted to collect his girlfriend’s belongings from another woman.

4:11 p.m.

Animal complaint

A woman phoned police after noticing that a dog had been left in a vehicle for more than an hour. The woman worried that the dog might overheat even with the windows cracked open.

5:52 p.m.

Animal complaint

A Wisconsin Avenue resident complained of a neighbor’s dog barking.

7:04 p.m.

Public safety

Authorities responded to Valley of the Moon for a report of a motor home and trailer blocking part of the county road.

7:33 p.m.

Suspicious vehicle

Authorities were advised of the possible sighting of a man suspected of area burglaries in a vehicle parked alongside of U.S. Highway 2 near Terrace View.

8:14 p.m.

Animal complaint

An individual reported finding several kittens, three to four weeks old, along U.S. Highway 2.

9:02 p.m.

Probation, parole violation

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies took one man into custody near U.S. Highway 2.

10:38 p.m.

Disturbance

A Reese Court resident reported neighbors yelling at one another, loudly and with “extreme foul language.” Responding Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies made contact with the individuals.

11:58 p.m.

Animal complaint

Authorities investigated the possible theft of a pet dog. A Three Corners resident accused her uncle of giving the animal away. She told investigators she had since tracked down the animal, but needed help in retrieving it.

Sept. 30

7:30 a.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies headed to Forest Drive after receiving a 911 call claiming two individuals were in a home, refusing to either clean it or leave.

8:29 a.m.

Property

The employee of a Libby business asked police officers to retrieve a bike left on company property.

9:16 a.m.

Suspicious activity

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies checking out the 2nd Street Extension bridge found a possible campsite underneath.

9:18 a.m.

Property

A city maintenance crew reported finding a bicycle near a Libby park.

10:34 a.m.

Fraud

A Silver Spur Road reported getting a suspicious call from an individual purporting to be with the federal government.

10:51 a.m.

Civil complaint

A Bull Lake Road resident told authorities that a neighbor hosed him down while he tried to comply with an order from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to remove a gate.

2:40 p.m.

Firearms

A Velvet Grove resident told authorities that his neighbor has a gun range set up about 75 yards from his home and has been shooting nonstop all day long.

2:45 p.m.

Public safety

Libby police officers responded to California Avenue after receiving a report that a man left an area bar and was trying to drive away. Officers assisted the man in obtaining a ride home.

3:18 p.m.

Animal complaint

A grocery store patron reported finding a dog in the parking lot of the store.

5:12 p.m.

Public safety

Authorities received word that cattle had wandered out onto U.S. Highway 2, somewhere east of Happys Inn.

5:56 p.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

Libby police officers responded to Reese Court for a report of several individuals using racial slurs on children.

6:51 p.m.

Criminal mischief

Authorities responded to Glen Lake Road after a resident complained that people were picking apples from a tree on his property. Law enforcement personnel were unable to locate anyone apple picking.

7:14 p.m.

Public safety

First responders headed to U.S. Highway 2 for a report of an intoxicated cyclist falling from their ride.

11:18 p.m.

Traffic stop

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jennifer Harshman on a driving under the influence charge after a traffic stop. Authorities initiated the stop following a report of a motorist driving at an extremely slow rate of speed.
