Coronavirus threatens to erode our liberties

| May 5, 2020 8:20 AM

To the editor:

The fear of the novel coronavirus affects us in sinister ways. We can get complacent with the logic of capitulating our freedoms for safety and the greater good. This is an instance that hit a nerve.

Concealed carry weapons permits need to be renewed. Mine is due. I’ve had a longstanding date to do it. It was postponed March 18 with the idea they would get it rescheduled.

As of April 30, I’m done. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has not come up with a way to allow this right to continue. Their representatives acted as if it was nothing.

It, as well as the other freedoms we are loosening our hold on, means much to me. Of many, this is only one.
