John R. Knadler, Sr., 90

In loving memory of John R. Knadler, Sr., 90, who died March 9, 2020, at Mountain View Manor

in Eureka. He was born April 30, 1929, in Belgrade to Edwin and Florence Melton Knadler.

He moved to Libby in 1952. There he worked many jobs, which included mining work, and he also served as a police officer.

John worked in other parts of the country and even overseas in Japan. He loved to share stories and pictures of the time he worked in Alaska on the pipeline.

When he retired, John moved to Eureka where he made his home with his beloved dog, Shadow, and his family. John enjoyed many outdoor activities, like fishing, hunting and hiking. He also loved woodworking.

He was much loved and will be greatly missed by his friends and family. John often said, ā€œIā€™m finer than frog hair.ā€

John was preceded in death by his parents and children: Linda Gravelle, Richard Underwood, Steve Knadler; and siblings, Ed Knadler, Frank Knadler, Art Knadler, Evelyn Gilkerson and Arlene Kendel.

Survivors include his children, Bill and Georgia Thompson of Colville, Wash.; Shirley Totten and Ray Speed of Eureka; Robert Underwood and Sidney of Ronan; John and Terri Knadler of Spokane, Wash.; Melanie McDonald and Ron Guckenberg of Eureka; Marla and Steve Freeman of St. Regis; ex-wife June Knadler Roose of Eureka; and 53 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
