A second Lincoln County resident has succumbed to complications related to COVID-19.

Health officials announced the fatality during a July 27 update on the pandemic in the region. The man is described as having been in his 80s. No further details about the individual was immediately available.

Lincoln County saw the state's first death related to COVID-19. A Bull Lake man in his 70s succumbed to complications from the illness in late March.

Health officials also identified two new cases of the coronavirus in the county: A man in his 40s and a woman in her 50s. Both are symptomatic and the female patient has been hospitalized.

Officials do not know how either individual contracted the infection, but are performing contact tracing investigations.

Active cases in the county have fallen to 17, officials said. In total, 57 people in Lincoln County have contracted the coronavirus since the pandemic began. Thirty-eight people have recovered from the disease.
