Suspicious activity

Libby police officers found the garage of a local mechanic’s shop partially open. Upon investigation, they determined an individual associated with the business was on site and had opened the door.

1:39 a.m.

Assault

A woman reported a second-hand account of an assault at a local medical center. According to the woman, her spouse took a 3-year-old relative in for treatment. She did not like how the child was treated.

2:27 a.m.

Suspicious activity

Libby police officers sent a group of minors home after finding them near the intersection of 5th Street and Mineral Avenue. Officers arranged to contact the juveniles’ parents later to inform them of the city curfew.

6:56 a.m.

Public safety

A road crew was dispatched to clean up glass found on the road near U.S. Highway 2 and 6th Street in Libby.

Agency assistance

Representatives of a local medical center contacted law enforcement regarding an assault the previous evening in the emergency room.

Theft

A landlord on West 2nd Street Extension reported tenants were taking personal property as they moved out.

A West Road resident reported that a neighbor was keeping peacocks and the birds are roosting on the their property.

Employees of a state agency reported receiving threats.

Libby police officers investigated a report of an assault the week prior at a local bank. Bank employees wanted to pursue charges.

Authorities investigated a reported dog bite near Kootenai River Road Trail.

A Farm to Market Road resident heard a dog barking nearby. Someone else yelled and the dog went quiet. The resident requested an animal welfare check.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

Libby police investigated a report of an elderly man stalking the vehicle of a younger woman.

12:54 p.m.

Public safety

Authorities received a report of a motorist slamming on their brakes along Farm to Market Road. A male passenger exited the vehicle. The driver then performed three U-turns and departed.

2:16 p.m.

Traffic accident

Authorities responded to a two-vehicle accident near East Spruce Street and Montana Avenue. No injuries were reported, but all involved headed to a local medical center.

Warrant

Troy Police Chief Katie Davis arrested Domingo Palafox.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

A woman reported that her granddaughter’s ex-boyfriend was following her around town and trying to cause an accident. The man also has stalked her granddaughter, she told authorities.

Libby police officers received reports that several shoplifters hit an area supermarket the day prior.

A caller reported a dog apparently stuck beneath a vehicle near the intersection of state Highway 37 and Pipe Creek Road.

Firearms

A Timber Lane resident reported hearing shots fired nearby, possible 200 yards east of his location. A responding Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputy did not hear any gunfire.

June 24

12:06 a.m.

Suspicious activity

Authorities investigated a report of flashing lights in a county resident’s yard. The resident thought it might be their daughter’s ex-partner.

3:22 a.m.

Suspicious activity

A caller reported two vehicles and several people behind a local church. The individuals were yelling at one another.

9:14 a.m.

Missing person

A nanny reported several children as missing. They were last seen about 30 minutes prior. Authorities located the children soon after.

9:28 a.m.

City ordinance violation

Libby police officers investigated a city ordinance violation on Utah Avenue.

10:04 a.m.

Unattended death

Authorities responded to a report of an unattended death on Tobacco Road.

10:11 a.m.

Criminal trespass

An Elijah Drive resident reported that a man they had taken a no trespass order out was out shooting squirrels in the neighborhood. The corpse of a squirrel was tossed onto the resident’s yard.

Libby police officers investigated a city ordinance violation on East 8th Street.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

A woman reported that her children were threatened and cussed at by an adult couple. The man had a stick, she said. Dispatchers reported that a man at that location had just called in to report a black pickup parked in the area. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene on the 5th Street Extension and spoke with all parties.

Public assistance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a local gas station for a report of an elderly man being taken advantage of.

1:28 p.m.

Theft

Libby police officers responded to a local sporting good store for a report of a shoplifter.

Theft

The manager of a local restaurant reported a theft.

4:25 p.m.

Traffic violation

Montana Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report of several kids racing around on four-wheelers. The individuals were under the age of 16. Authorities contacted the juveniles’ grandmother.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance on Park Street. All individuals involved were separated.

8:35 p.m.

Alarm

Authorities received multiple reports of a fire alarm going off along Idaho Avenue, but there was no fire.

A Timber Lane resident reported that her daughters’ saw a man peeping into their bedroom window.
