4:14 a.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

A Main Street resident told Libby police officers that she received a series of phone calls from a blocked number. All she could hear is breathing and the noise of a television set in the background. She said she was scared and asked for an additional patrol in the area.

11:25 a.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of disturbance along Farm to Market Road. According to the caller, a 22-year-old stepson poked his mother in the chest during an argument. The 22-year-old then took off on foot. The family agreed to call authorities if the man returned home.

11:39 a.m.

Death

Authorities responded to an unattended death on U.S. Highway 93.

12:03 p.m.

Alarm

First responders received notification of a fire alarm going off in the gymnasium of Libby Elementary School. The school principal later told authorities that an old laminator was smoking and set off the alarm.

2:10 p.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

A Commerce Way resident reported getting harassed by an ex-partner and their new boyfriend on social media.

2:15 p.m.

Suspicious vehicle

An East 8th Street resident reported finding a motorcycle parked in the entryway of their apartment. Responding Libby police officers determined the identity of the owner, but were unable to contact the individual.

5:05 p.m.

Fraud

A Forest Way resident reported fraudulent charges posted to a credit card he did not apply for.

7:16 p.m.

Public safety

A Quartz Creek resident contacted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to report several men felling trees behind her property. One of the trees fell on her home. The amount of damage to the residence was not immediately available. The individuals involved exchanged information and agreed to settle the matter after deputies arrived on scene.

June 10

8:30 a.m.

Traffic accident

A man reported finding damage to the left quarter panel of his personal vehicle. He had parked in the lot of a local supermarket the evening prior and suspected that was when the damage occurred.

8:45 a.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

A county resident called to report that his wife was continuing to have problems with her ex-husband.

8:57 a.m.

Animal complaint

Authorities returned a dog to its owner on U.S. Highway 2 after a neighbor reported the animal running loose inside their home. The dog had gone after their animals and poultry before entering the home.

Libby police officers investigated a theft at a local supermarket.

Animal complaint

A Castle View Lane resident asked to turn his neighbor’s constantly barking dog over to local law enforcement.

2:26 p.m.

Suspicious activity

A caller reported seeing a woman dumping personal trash into the bins at J. Neils Memorial Park. It was the second time that week the woman had been there, the caller told authorities.

Criminal trespass

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Vanderwood Road for a report of a trespasser.

Animal complaint

Medical officials at a nearby facility reported a dog bite to local authorities.

Death

A dead body was discovered near Graves Creek Road.

5:01 p.m.

Criminal trespass

A 911 caller reported that a man was on his property and refusing to leave.

Suspicious activity

An employee of a local sporting goods store reported the attempted theft of items. The would-be thieves were caught and left the store. The suspects, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 60s, told the employee they had come to town via the train.

Libby police officers responded to a report of a half-naked man taking a bath using the sink of a local laundromat.

911 call

A 911 caller described as “very intoxicated” asked authorities to check in on his wife, who lives out of state.

10:20 a.m.

Animal complaint

A West Poplar Street resident reported a pit bull left tied to a fence across the street. The dog had no food, water or shelter.

11:18 a.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a local trailer park.

11:34 a.m.

Runaway

Authorities launched a search of a 15-year-old runaway. The chase led them to the Kootenai River Campground and along the Kootenai River. The teenager was later reunited with his parents.

12:26 p.m.

Suspicious vehicle

Authorities investigated a vehicle left unoccupied at the Yaak Road BNSF railroad tracks.

12:55 p.m.

Public safety

A caller reported a possible drunk driving case on Mineral Avenue. The caller offered several past experiences as possible evidence and said he saw the vehicle swerve. Under questioning, the individual admitted he was related to the suspect and knew them to drive under the influence often.
