Jan. 28

12 a.m.

Animal complaint

An Airport Road resident reported that a neighbor’s dogs had been barking since 10 p.m. Responding Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported finding no barking dogs, but they spotted a herd of elk.

12:31 a.m.

Suspicious activity

A Troy resident reported hearing gunshots near her home on Forest Drive. She also saw an unfamiliar vehicle driving around the neighborhood.

2:16 a.m.

Traffic stop

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled over a motorist near a truck stop on U.S. Highway 2 and cited the driver for driving with a suspended license. The motorist was instructed to remain at the scene until a licensed driver arrived.

1:45 p.m.

Public safety

An individual reported that snow was plowed from private property onto Vicks Drive.

2:24 p.m.

Fire

Libby Volunteer Fire Department personnel responded to a reported house fire near the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and Indian Head Road. The individual who contacted authorities reported seeing flames. Officials said it was a controlled burn.

2:37 p.m.

Public safety

Authorities responded to Lakeshore Drive after receiving a report of a vehicle stuck in a neighbor’s yard. The individual who contacted authorities said he could smell alcohol on the occupants and refused to help the two women “until they sobered up.” Arriving law enforcement confirmed the passenger, who was on probation, had been drinking.

Public safety

A caller reported a sinkhole forming in the alleyway between California and Mineral avenues. Authorities alerted city road crews.

Caller reported seeing a speeding vehicle strike a turkey near Reese Court.

8:47 a.m.

Fish and game

A Dawson Street resident reported spotting four wolves in her yard. Responding authorities examined the tracks and determined that they likely were coyotes.

12:03 p.m.

Traffic accident

Authorities responded to a three-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 2.

Traffic accident

A vehicle collision on State Highway 508 near mile marker nine left the road closed. Arriving first responders treated one victim for injuries.

Property

A caller reported a bicycle left at a local pond.

1:15 p.m.

Theft

A caller reported theft of services at the former Stinger building in December. The caller had replaced the locks, but not yet been paid for the work.

Theft

A West Poplar Street resident reported her son for stealing money from her account.

6:04 p.m.

Civil complaint

A Kettle Horn Drive resident told authorities an individual broke into their cabin, smashed the doors and chopped down several trees.

6:35 p.m.

Traffic stop

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Shery Lowry for an alleged probation violation after a traffic stop.

7:39 p.m.

Fire

Libby Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported chimney fire on McKay Street.

10:05 p.m.

Suspicious person

Eureka dispatch passed along a report of a man wearing dark clothing walking along State Highway 37 near Airport Road.

11:46 p.m.

Warrant

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Shawna Gail Patterson on an outstanding warrant. Patterson was held on a $2,500 bond.

Jan. 30

12:24 a.m.

Animal complaint

Libby police officers found a dog missing from a traffic accident sitting out in front of a local supermarket. The Rottweiler was taken to the animal shelter.

7:39 a.m.

Traffic stop

Libby police cited a motorist for operating a vehicle without insurance and failing to stop for a school bus near a trailer court on U.S. Highway 2.

11:30 a.m.

Animal complaint

An East Lincoln Boulevard resident reported seeing two dogs chasing deer near his home. They headed along the railroad tracks toward the hospital, he said.

12:49 p.m.

Animal complaint

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a report of two dogs out without leashes at J. Neils Park. The individual who contacted authorities told them that the dogs charged at the elderly.

4:16 p.m.

Fish and game

A caller reported seeing a dead deer on the side of Lake Creek Road. The deer looked as though another animal had ripped its throat out, she told authorities.
