Public safety

First responders headed to mile marker 4 of state Highway 37 for a report of a man felling trees and cutting firewood in the roadway. The debris was eventually cleared. The man agreed to finish up his work and move along.

11:35 a.m.

City ordinance violation

Libby police officers warned a man for not following the city’s snow removal ordinance.

1:09 p.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

A caller reported receiving threats from her ex-daughter-in-law.

1:15 p.m.

Theft

A Morning Sky Drive resident reported the theft of a generator from her home.

2:49 p.m.

Criminal trespass

An employee of a local convenience store asked to file a no trespass order on a woman that lives near the business.

Suspicious vehicle

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle near Granite Creek Bridge.

3:36 p.m.

Public safety

An anonymous tipster alerted authorities to hunters possibly shooting in a residential area near Remps Pit.

4:35 p.m.

Suspicious vehicle

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies launched an unsuccessful pursuit of a vehicle possibly ferrying a suspected burglar near mile marker 79 of U.S. Highway 2. Before the vehicle got away, authorities saw one of the occupants toss a black bag onto the road. Afterwards, deputies recovered the bag.

Suspicious person

A gas station employee reported a man for hanging out around the local business and offering juveniles a ride home.

9:09 p.m.

Suspicious person

A caller reported seeing a woman yelling at traffic on U.S. Highway 2 in Libby. The woman was described as carrying a hedge trimmer, chainsaw and machete. Libby police officers were unable to locate anyone matching the description.

Nov. 24

12:03 a.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

An individual reported having a gun pulled on him while he was delivering a package on Pipe Creek Road.

2:26 a.m.

Suspicious person

A caller told Libby police officers that a woman was wandering around Commerce Way and yelling. She appeared to be under the influence, the caller said. Responding officers transported the woman from the scene.

7:55 a.m.

Public assistance

A caller asked for a welfare check on a woman acting erratically at Firemans Park.

8:46 a.m.

Unattended death

Authorities responded to a U.S. Highway 2 location for a report of an unattended death.

9:33 a.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Parmenter Drive for a third-hand account of an argument between a man and a woman. The woman had since disappeared and the man was thought to have been armed with a knife. Responding deputies located the woman and learned that the disagreement was verbal only.

Suspicious activity

A Nevada Avenue resident told Libby police officers that an unknown individual had tossed a deer carcass with a screwdriver in it onto his yard. The resident though the carcass was meant for his dog.

1:49 p.m.

Public assistance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies headed to Pipe Creek Road for a report of an ungovernable 17-year-old.

1:52 p.m.

Animal complaint

A Sheldon Flats Road resident told authorities that their neighbor’s dog was constantly barking. The animal also showed signs of aggression. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies issued a verbal warning.

3:20 p.m.

Suspicious activity

A Star Road resident spotted a drone flying at window-level near his house.

11:03 a.m.

Suspicious vehicle

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a motor home on Lake Creek Road.

11:07 a.m.

Disturbance

Libby police officers arrived at a local lodging house for a report of a disturbance. A caller reported hearing yelling and thought she heard the sound of an individual getting slapped. Officers determined the argument was verbal only.

11:39 a.m.

Drugs, drug paraphernalia

A caller reported that her boyfriend was using drugs.

12:46 p.m.

Suspicious activity

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies launched a successful search for a local woman after her husband suspected she had gone missing for several days. The man told law enforcement personnel that his wife had told him she was a protected witness and might not be able to return home. Deputies deemed it a missing persons case. They located the woman in Flathead County.

3:57 p.m.

Public safety

Authorities were called to mile marker 4 of state Highway 37 after a caller reported seeing a man cutting trees unsafely along the roadway. A chunk of tree allegedly fell onto the highway. Responding Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies spoke with the man, but said he appeared to be performing the work safely and responsibly.

4:20 p.m.

Property

Libby police officers found a package in the road near the intersection of Main Avenue and 8th Street.

4:30 p.m.

City ordinance violation

Libby police officers received a report of trash buildup in a Flower Street yard.

5:06 p.m.

Suspicious activity

An individual told authorities they suspected a woman with access to prescription medications was misusing the drugs.

5:09 p.m.

Animal complaint

A Vicks Lane resident requested information on cat traps after their feline went missing.

7:04 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Charles Drury, 32, on a probation violation charge after he allegedly threatened a woman with a firearm. Deputies initially responded to a disturbance report at Lewis Loop. The woman told authorities she had recovered the firearm and that the man was not allowed firearms.

8:28 p.m.

Suspicious vehicle

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Spencer Road after a resident reported spotting a vehicle parked in the woods with the lights on for several hours every night. Arriving deputies had one individual taken to the local medical center.

Nov. 26

10:53 a.m.

Fish and game

A caller reported finding an injured bird.

11:10 a.m.

Disturbance

Libby police officers responded to a disturbance on Main Avenue. The individuals involved all lived in the residence and refused to separate. Officers eventually arrested Christopher Orin Watts on a partner or family member assault charge.

12:22 p.m.

Garbage, littering

A caller reported a large amount of garbage dumped on U.S. Forest Service land near Sheldon Flats.

12:52 p.m.

Theft

A River View Drive resident reported an individual cutting trees on his property. Responding Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies identified the suspect. The individuals worked out an arrangement.

12:53 p.m.

Traffic accident

Montana Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident near Bobtail Road and Bobtail cutoff. The vehicle had struck a power pole and ended up in a ditch. The driver was unable to get out of the vehicle because of downed power lines. Local utility crews responded to the scene along with an ambulance and firefighters. Fire crews eventually got the motorist out of the car.

Fish and game

A large bear was reported near Kootenai River Road.

3:54 p.m.

Criminal mischief

A Minnesota Avenue resident told Libby police officers he suspected someone struck his trailer at some point and left without notifying him.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

An individual reported receiving death threats via text message.
