Karl C. Mueller
Karl C. Mueller died peacefully Nov 27, 2020, at 1:40 pm at a hospital in Kalispell after a long battle with cancer.
He lived in Friday Harbor for 30 years. He was born in Los Angeles on April 9, 1950, to Robert and Catherine Mueller. He grew up in Canoga Park, Calif., and after graduating high school then he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He deployed for two tours in Vietnam as an armor crewman with the 25th “Tropic Lightning “Infantry Division. Although he never boasted about his time overseas, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with Valor. His love and pride for doing his part in defending the United States as it was founded without relent was very important to him and were his defining characteristics.
After 30 years spent living on San Juan Island in Washington state, working as a carpenter and being intricately involved with the Friday Harbor American Legion, Karl and his wife of 27 years, Carol, with their two Yorkies moved to Montana — a place they love.
Karl always treated people with respect and earned the love and respect of many friends, associates and coworkers. Enormous challenges arose at times and Karl was able to humbly press on and overcome them all while maintaining a keen sense of humor that put a smile on faces of so many. He will always be remembered for his great sacrifice, honor, integrity, and his genuine, unselfish nature and brotherly love. A loving husband, dear friend and all-around good man, he will be sincerely missed.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Carol; her son, Daniel; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; his sister, Yvonne, and her husband, Wayne Chance; nephew, Sean, and his wife, Hooki Chance; and niece, Ginger, and her husband Rich Toth.
Karl will forever be missed, but not forgotten.
Arrangements will be made at a later time.
