American Legion Baseball leaves Libby with upstanding and well-rounded young men

To the editor:

Our grandson has been involved with the American Legion Baseball program for the past two summers. Coach Kelly Morford and his assistant coaches, Micah Germany and Joe Flores, are fine role models for these young men. A few of these young men would not otherwise have absorbed the experiences that baseball provides.

We have attended all of the games in the last two years. I am proud when other teams come to Libby, as the Lumberyard is the best field in the district. The coaches, Jim Germany and several volunteer parents work hard to keep the field in perfect shape. Mr. Germany also announces the games and does so with pride and enthusiasm. When we travel to other baseball fields for away games, our Libby Loggers represent our community with the utmost respect for the game of baseball.

These coaches volunteer their time to practice baseball, work on the field, drive the boys to games and hold fundraisers. They accomplish this while charging the boys a minimal amount to play baseball, which allows everyone to play.

Six senior ball players were honored at the last home game. It was an emotional night for parents and players.

We want to thank Kelly Morford, Micah Germany, Joe Flores and Jim Germany for the time and work that they put in the program. American Legion Baseball is definitely an essential program for the development of young men in this community.
