Animal complaint

A Haven Hill Lane property owner reported that a tenant’s dog has been tied up for hours. Several neighbors had complained that the dog was barking at all hours.

8:38 a.m.

Runaway

Eureka police alerted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to a runaway. A Eureka resident had reported that his little sister had run away to Idaho. Authorities later learned that the girl was with her father in Sandpoint, Idaho.

9:26 a.m.

Animal complaint

Montana Highway Patrol troopers reported coming across a brown and white cow heading toward Libby via U.S. Highway 2.

10:30 a.m.

Animal complaint

A Balsam Avenue resident told authorities that her neighbor got a puppy several months ago. After the neighbor leaves for work, typically around 6 or 7 a.m., the dog begins barking and does not stop until the neighbor returns home.

1:35 p.m.

Missing person

Libby police officers launched a search into a missing child last seen near the fishing pond. The boy was later reunited with his family.

Animal complaint

Staff at a local emergency room reported they had treated a woman bitten by her own cat.

Traffic accident

Authorities responded to a traffic accident along U.S. Highway 2.

Suspicious activity

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated suspicious activity near the Pinkham Schoolhouse.

A property owner told authorities that thieves burglarized his home on Five Mile Creek Road.

Animal complaint

Authorities received word of a dog at large on East Lincoln Boulevard. The animal chases people and has a history of nipping humans.

Authorities responded to a report of a dead dog in the middle of Pipe Creek Road, near the five mile marker.

Public safety

An individual reported that a man left the house after consuming alcohol. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the described vehicle unoccupied near the City of Libby Cemetery. The three individuals found near the vehicle were released to a sober driver.

9:42 p.m.

City ordinance violation

A Scenery Road resident reported an individual shooting off fireworks within city limits.

10:25 p.m.

Suspicious person

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies escorted one individual to a local emergency room after responding to a suspicious person call on Chase Cutoff Road. The individual who reported the incident told authorities that a man was standing outside of his house and was under the influence of an unknown substance. The homeowner had blocked the man from entering his home.

Authorities responded to Hunter Lane for a report of a resident burning weeds with a torch.

July 9

12:02 a.m.

Suspicious person

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home on U.S. Highway 93 for a report of an individual banging on the door. Deputies learned that the individual behind the noise was looking for his sister.

1:40 a.m.

Suspicious vehicle

An individual told authorities that a vehicle followed him back to his local motel. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies learned the other motorist was a transient. He agreed to move on.

10:12 a.m.

Theft

A gas station reported that a motorist ran off the previous night without paying for gas.

11:13 a.m.

Disturbance

A woman walking a dog near Vicks Drive reported hearing a disturbance.

11:38 a.m.

Agency assistance

Libby police officers helped the county health nurse with an unwilling patient near Minnesota Avenue.

11:39 a.m.

City ordinance violation

Libby police officers investigated a city ordinance violation near the intersection of 6th Street and California Avenue.

Animal complaint

A caller reported a German shepherd running in and out of traffic near the state Highway 37 bridge.

A BNSF representative told authorities that small children were riding bicycles in the rail yard near West 1st Street.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Angela Marie Fischer on felony drug possession charges after responding to a disturbance on My Road.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies took a report of a possible assault that occurred a decade ago on an individual who was 7 years old at the time.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the rail line for a report of a seemingly disoriented man walking along the tracks. Authorities were told that the man was walking back and forth and occasionally sitting down on the rails. Deputies alerted BNSF before meeting up with the man. Responding deputies told him to walk along the highway rather than the railroad.

Fire

Libby Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to a report of a fire spreading along Kootenai River Road.

9:21 p.m.

Traffic accident

First responders headed to Kootenai River Road for a report of a vehicle that had crashed, rolled over and caught fire.

10:40 p.m.

Assault

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an assault on East Third Avenue.

11:04 p.m.

Disturbance

A U.S. Highway 2 resident asked authorities to make contact with their neighbors, who were playing loud music.
