James Raymond Cassidy Jr.

| August 7, 2020 8:07 AM

James “Flaps” Raymond Cassidy Jr. passed away peacefully July 25, 2020, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Jim was born Feb. 22, 1940, in Babb, on the Blackfeet Reservation, to the late James Cassidy Sr. and Daisy E. Steele Cassidy.

He lived in the Troy, and the Libby area, for about 40 years before moving to Superior.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Daisy Cassidy; sisters, Dorthy and Patricia Cassidy; brothers, Gerald and David Cassidy; grandchildren, James E. Preuss and Edward E. Haacke; and his late wife of 26 years, Mary M. Cassidy.

James is survived by his wife, Barbara Cassidy; sister, Violet; daughters, Marlene Cassidy, Diane Caves and Sheila (Craig) Haessly; sons, Robert and (Cindy) Robinson and William Robinson; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

Jim was a joker and enjoyed telling stories. He also loved being around family and friends. He loved the outdoors in Montana. He was very fond of fishing and long drives in the mountains.

He was employed by the Diamond Lumber mill in Superior for more than 20 years until they closed. He worked many different jobs in his life, but he loved the mill the best and driving the loader. He loved to travel and had lived in Montana, Colorado, Ohio and in Idaho, where he met his beautiful wife of three years, Barbara. They were married in a wonderful ceremony in Canton, Ohio.

There were many things he was good at in his life. He was terrific at making jerky and panning for gold.

He was a wonderful father, husband and an especially terrific grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family very much and, like everyone, made a few mistakes along the way. But he had the kindest heart and always gave what he could to help. We were so blessed to have him in our lives and will forever cherish that time. You will never be forgotten.

And you will always be loved.

Burial will be held at Milner Lake Cemetery at a later date. For more information on the graveside service please call or email Sheila Haessly at haesslys@aol.com or call 330-265-8949.
