Disturbance

Libby police officers responded to a disturbance at a local motel.

9:09 a.m.

Suspicious activity

Authorities investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle near the Lincoln County Courthouse. A caller reported a man and woman inside a blue Nissan acting strangely. They were last seen headed toward the U.S. Post Office.

Animal Complaint

A West Poplar Street resident reported a dog missing since the day before.

Animal complaint

A local caregiver told authorities that her client’s daughter had moved, but left her three cats behind.

12:05 p.m.

Fish and game

A male caller reported finding an owl with a broken wing. He told authorities he would drive it to Kalispell for treatment.

12:27 p.m.

Theft

A local fuel station reported a motorist for driving off without paying for $22 worth of gasoline. After running the license plates of the motorist, authorities learned the individual worked at another gas station in the area.

12:53 p.m.

Suspicious person

A Nevada Avenue resident reported a suspicious man walking the neighborhood and recording houses. It was the second time the resident had seen the man in the area. An officer was requested to come out and check with the individual. Responding officers failed to locate the man.

1:18 p.m.

Public safety

An individual reported neighbors for not monitoring their child. The individual told authorities the child recently was almost struck by a moving vehicle. After informing the child’s parents, the individual contacted local law enforcement. It was one of multiple reports the individual has filed against their neighbor.

1:54 p.m.

Theft

An O’Brien Creek Lane resident reported that “unwelcome individuals” stole multiple belongings from his house.

Property

A caller reported finding a massage device and broken VHS in a suitcase on the side of State Highway 57 near mile marker 23.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

An individual reported feeling threatened by the presence of a man in the parking lot of a local supermarket.

8:51 p.m.

Fire

First responders were called to a grass fire near Crystal Lake Road.

Public safety

A Parmenter Drive resident reported that a neighbor sped through the neighborhood on a regular basis.

March 20

8:02 a.m.

Traffic violation

A motorist reported being run off the road the day prior near the construction site on U.S. Highway 2.

10:38 pm.

Traffic violation

A motorist reported seeing a police chase on U.S. Highway 2 the day prior and was willing to answer any questions law enforcement might have of them.

11:05 a.m.

Suspicious activity

The manager of a local supermarket called authorities after receiving word from a customer that a group of people exiting a bus was preparing to enter the store.

1:10 p.m.

Traffic accident

Authorities responded to a motor vehicle accident near a local health clinic. The motorist had driven over a barrier and was stuck.

1:26 p.m.

Criminal mischief

The principal of an elementary school reported seeing kids riding motorbikes on the athletic track and requested police remove them.

2:08 p.m.

Disturbance

Libby police responded to a report of a young man going in and out of the U.S. Post Office while yelling and swearing into mobile phone.

2:31 p.m.

Traffic violation

A caller reported seeing a motorist back into her vehicle. The motorist did not stop and instead left on U.S. Highway 2 headed for Troy.

3:06 p.m.

Property

While cleaning out a Granite Avenue building, a woman came across the previous tenant’s wallet and other items. She wanted to return the property if possible, but did not know how to contact the individual.

4:15 p.m.

Disturbance

Libby police responded to Minnesota Avenue after receiving a report of a disturbance. A caller told authorities he was recently released from the hospital and wanted to report elder abuse. Officers separated the parties.

5 p.m.

Theft

A U.S. Highway 2 resident reported being accused of stealing debit and credit cards from their elderly stepfather.
