Shane Michael Remp, 32

| April 10, 2020 8:21 AM

Shane Michael Remp, 32, son of Rusty and Kathy Remp, went home to his Lord and Savior on March 28, 2020, in an automobile accident.

He is survived by his loving mother, Kathy Remp of Libby; his brother, Tyler Remp of Libby; his son, Ryker John Remp and his mother, Ashlee Legino, both of Missoula; his grandparents, John and Bev Swing of Libby; his aunt, Jani, and her husband, Terry Miller, of Spangle, Wash.; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rusty Remp; his grandparents, Ray and Iris Remp; and his uncle, Ron Remp.

One of Shane’s first jobs was at Dream Marine. For many years he worked for his parents at Remp Sand and Gravel. Later, he moved to North Dakota and worked in the oil fields. For the last year Shane had been living in Spangle, Wash., where Cockle Custom Welding employed him. Most recently, he was driving a truck, operating heavy equipment and working as a mechanic for Action Materials of Cheney, Wash.

He loved to ride his bicycle and motorbike. Much of the time he chose to be on one wheel rather than two. He loved the thrill of big jumps, big tricks and just having fun. Whether it was right side up or upside down didn’t matter to him.

Shane was at a good place in his life. Time spent with his son Ryker, whether in person or on the phone, was special for both of them. Shane enjoyed fishing and fishing, and also fishing. When he wasn’t fishing, he enjoyed participating in motocross, skateboarding, skiing, camping, and spending time with his little dog Jerriee. In earlier years, he enjoyed camping at McGregor Lake with the Remp clan.

Less than a month ago, many wonderful smiles and treasured memories were created during a family ski trip with Shane. As was Shane’s style, he looked at a jump, asked his brother about the landing and — yup — jumped it. Of course, he performed a helicopter maneuver in mid-air. This was much to his mother’s dismay. He landed it perfectly and looked back at them all with that Shane smile.

Everlasting memories of Shane include swimming trips, skiing expeditions and simple family fun.

Ryker’s favorite memories with his dad included the times they spent riding four-wheelers together. Motocross has been a Remp family tradition for years. Shane did this with his brother, Tyler, his dad, his cousins and the “buddies.” There were countless hours spent riding and racing.

We can all take comfort in knowing that Shane is at peace and once again, with his dad. The family had a small graveside service April 4. A memorial service will be held at a later date when the current restrictions are lifted.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, a fund has been established for his son, Ryker. Contributions can be made to Lincoln County Credit Union, P.O. Box 1586, Libby, MT 59923 c/o Kathy Remp-Ryker’s Fund.
