| April 10, 2020 8:21 AM

Marc William Grubham, 29, of St. Maries, Idaho, passed away March 28, 2020. He was born to Rob and Tracie (Totten) Grubham on Sept. 9, 1990, in St. Maries, Idaho.

Marc grew up in St. Maries and always will be remembered as a talented athlete who lived for sports. He lettered in three sports 12 times while in high school. If he wasn’t playing school ball, he was playing club ball. Sports were a year-round event for him, and his family enjoyed watching him perform, as they were very proud of him. Marc graduated from St. Maries High School with the Class of 2009.

Following high school, Marc had a few opportunities to attend college on baseball scholarships. He ended up enlisting in the U.S. Army. Marc attended boot camp at Fort Knox in Kentucky. He was a cavalry scout with B-Troop, 7th Squadron, 10 Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colo. From 2010 to 2011, Marc served in Bala Murghab Badghis, Afghanistan. He returned to Colorado Springs where he was honorably discharged.

Once again, he made his family proud, obtaining the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, National Defense Service Medal, two campaign stars, and many other medals, ribbons and badges for his service.

Once Marc was honorably discharged, he attended Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs as a member of the Criminal Justice program. For a time, Marc moved around the northwest before he returned to St. Maries in 2017. Marc went to work at Potlatch Corporation where he held many different labor and operating positions. He loved learning; therefore, he learned many jobs in the plywood mill.

Marc’s greatest passion was the outdoors and sharing his love of the outdoors with his friends. He introduced several friends and his young siblings to this lifestyle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, scouting and guiding friends who were new to the area. Marc also enjoyed attending University of Oregon Ducks games with his best friend and watching the Philadelphia Eagles play on TV.

Marc is survived by his parents, Rob Grubham of Libby and Tracie (Keith) Babor of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; siblings, Trinda Babor (Andrew Riordan) of Raleigh, N.C., Amber Grubham of Libby, Jax Babor of Charlotte, N.C., Jake Babor of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Deric Bradbury of Tillamook, Ore., Brooklyn Babor of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, and Nathan Babor of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; grandparents, Harry and Pam Grubham of St. Maries, Idaho, and Shirley Totten of Eureka; aunts and uncles, Jaci (Dean) Short, Tim (Carey) Grubham, Tara Totten, Kevin Haughten, Kevin Naylor and Amy Sines; many cousins; and his best friend and fur baby, Reaper.
