Abe impersonator relished Libby Nordicfest parade
To all Lincoln County Republican Club members:
My sincere thanks to all of you for the opportunity for me to make another “Abe Lincoln” appearance. It was nice meeting with you all Saturday morning and for the warm welcome that I received.
In a portion of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address on Nov. 18, 1863, President Lincoln would say “The world will little note nor long remember what we say here but it will never forget what they did here.”
“They” would refer to the fallen heroes on the Gettysburg battlefield. The “We” would refer to the Orator, Edward Everett, who had spoken before President Lincoln and then to President Lincoln who spoke after Everett.
In all of times that I had the honor and privilege to impersonate President Lincoln over the years in parades and political events in different towns and cities here in Montana, I have found that “Abe Lincoln” has not been forgotten.
He is still, in fact, fondly remembered and revered by so many. The smiles on the faces of adults and children along the parade routes when seeing President Lincoln, from my vantage place on the float, is absolutely “priceless.”
That had to be true this past Saturday during the Libby Nordicfest Parade and way back to the early 1980s when the Lincoln County Republican Club first introduced “Abe” to the residents of Libby and Lincoln County in the Libby Nordicfest Parade.
It was so rewarding for me this Saturday to observe the crowd, their enthusiasm, their smiling faces, their waves and nods and thumbs up as our float went by. It was like being at a Trump rally.
My congratulations to the Lincoln County Republican Club on being awarded first place in the parade Saturday and to all the members who were able to be there and assemble the float and those who were able to participate in the parade.
Just a note to those members who may not be aware, the Club was awarded first place in the Libby Nordicfest parade in 1993.
My best to the Lincoln County Republican Club as it continues in their efforts to educate our citizens in conservative values and supporting Republican candidates.
