A pick six and the recovery of an onside kick helped propel the Libby Loggers to a 54-14 win Friday night over Columbia Falls.

The Loggers are 4-0, but they were in a dogfight with the Wildcats, leading just 21-7 at halftime.

According to information on maxpreps.com, Ryker McElMurry’s 25-yard interception return early in the third quarter and Chandler Bower’s PAT kick made it 28-7.

The Wildcats responded with a toucdown to cut the lead to 28-14, but a Columbia Falls gamble failed when Hunter Hoover recovered an onside kick.

The two teams traded punts before the Loggers responded with a 54-yard touchdown capped by Aydan Williamson’s 18-yard run to make it 34-14.

In the fourth quarter, Libby forced a turnover on downs and the Loggers upped their lead to 27 points, 41-14, on the next possession.

Quarterback Jeff Offenbecher hit Bower with a 31-yard pass.

The Loggers forced another turnover on downs and Offenbecher ran for a 54-yard TD.

Libby capped the scoring with a 4-yard TD run by Dawson Young. Young, who had a huge game last week in a win over Ronan, ran 13 times for 82 yards with the one TD.

Offenbecher had the standout game Friday, running for nearly 200 and throwing for more than 100.

Offenbecher hit 8 of 16 passes for 142 yards, three TDs and one interception. He ran 15 times for 194 yards and two scores.

Williamson had 46 yards on eight carries.

Bower tallied five receptions for 81 yards and two scores while Young had two catches for 29 yards and one TD. David Patterson had a 32-yard catch, too.

Patterson also led the Loggers with 15 tackles, including two for loss.

Luke Foreman, Hoover, Riley Vogel, Cayman Lee and McElmurry each hit double digits in tackles.

The Loggers are at Polson Friday night. The Pirates are 3-1 after a 40-36 win over Ronan.
