Army Corp hosts third youth hunt at Libby Dam

Local youth ages 10 to 15 who have completed a Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Hunter

Education Course or are registered in the apprenticeship program and have an interested, licensed, adult or mentor committed to camp, scout and hunt with them are eligible to apply to participate in a special mentored youth deer hunt experience at Libby Dam to be held October 16-18.

There is no fee to apply or participate, although only 10 hunters will be selected through random draw.

- Applications are available at area sporting outlets or by email jacob.t.williams@usace.army.mil.

- Deadline to submit applications is Sept. 26. By email or mail to Libby Dam Visitor

Center, YOUTH HUNT -17877 Hwy 37, Libby, MT 59923.

- Youth selected to participate will be expected to provide their own gear to include sleeping bag, weather appropriate clothing, hunter orange, and their own weapon and ammo accompanied by their

adult helper.

- Participants will be hosted overnight in a group camp onsite near Libby Dam for the evenings of Oct.

16 and 17, and all meals will be provided. The Youth Hunt will take place Oct. 17-18.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages the natural resources around Libby Dam and sponsors

the Youth Hunt in partnership with the USDA Forest Service, Kootenai National Forest, the Libby Dam

Cooperative Association and a variety of other State and local partners.
