Two Troy man arrested on drug charges

Two men from Troy are facing felony drug charges after authorities said they both sold several hits of acid to a confidential informant.

Levi Robert Guinard, 41, and Jack Wayne Hamilton III, 30, are each facing one felony count of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs.

Hamilton III was jailed on $50,000 bail while Guinard was booked on $25,000 bail.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, at about 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy listened to a conversation with the use of a wire warrant between a confidential informant and Guinard.

Guinard took the informant to Chapel Cedar Mill in Troy to buy 30 hits of acid for $340. Guinard allegedly told the informant that his source is Hamilton and he worked at Chapel Cedar. Levi got the acid, returned to the informant’s vehicle gave him the acid and the informant gave Guinard $340, according to the affidavit.

Levi then allegedly paid Hamilton the money, returned to the car and was later arrested.

It’s not Guinard’s first run-in with the law.

He has faced drug charges earlier in 2019 and is listed on the Montana Department of Justice’s website as a Level 2 sex offender after a 2000 conviction for sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl.

Earlier this summer, Hamilton received a 3-year suspended sentence for drug possession.
