Loggers roll past Whitefish for season-opening win
The Libby Loggers got their 2019 season off to a great start, beating Whitefish, 31-0, Friday on the road.
Jeff Offenbecher and Dawson Young both scored two touchdowns and Chandler Bower booted a 20-yard field goal to go with four PAT kicks as the Loggers cruised to a Northwest A Conference victory.
Offenbecher had a 16–yard TD catch from Jay Beagle and ran 93 yards for another.
Young had touchdown runs of 2 and 4 yards.
Young finished with 125 yards on 28 carries. Offenbecher had four carries for 115 yards.
Beagle completed 7 of 10 passes for 100 yards.

Libby had 478 yards total offense to Whitefish’s 176.
The Loggers scored on their opening possession, driving 77 yards and ended with Beagle throwing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Offenbecher.
They followed that up on their next possession with 1-yard touchdown run from Young to go up 14-0.
Later, Whitefish moved the ball down to the Libby 7 on the strength of a 50-yard run by Devin Beale.
Penalties moved the Dogs back, but they made it back to the 6 for fourth down. Even after a second chance caused by a Libby pass interference, the Dogs couldn’t convert.
Libby answered a few plays later to make it 21-0 when Offenbecher sprinted down the left sideline for a 92-yard touchdown. The Loggers ended the first half with a short field goal by Bower to take a 24-0 lead at the half.
The Loggers got on the board one more time early in the fourth, when Young found the end zone for a second time on a 4-yard sweep.
