Libby cross country coach Rodd Zeiler saw his athletes focus their attention firmly on the future over the weekend.

“Libby had their eyes wide open during a fast start at the Western Divisional A Meet,” he said.

Columbia Falls took the team win for the men’s race, but the Loggers still brought home personal bests. Zeiler said personal bests for the men’s race were achieved by: Cael Schwindt, who improved by 11 seconds, Thomas Roark by 20 seconds and Aiyden Crawford by 36 seconds.

Although not getting a personal best, John Cheroske led the boys to a strong finish, Coach Zeiler said.

“Cheroske is still the fastest 5k athlete in the last 10 years for Libby, possibly more,” he said.

For the women’s race, Coach Zeiler said, “our award goes to Aurora Smith—she improved by 56 seconds.”

With that run, Smith is now one of the top five freshman runners in the conference. Corvallis was the team winner for the women’s race.
