Loggers 6-0 after beating Butte Central Catholic

The Libby Loggers football team made sure homecoming was a good one as they beat the Butte Central Catholic Maroons, 29-21, Friday.
Libby’s 6-0 start is its best since 2006, when they opened 10-0. It’s the Loggers most wins since 2007 when they had nine.
Libby led 29-7 at the half and through three quarters before the Maroons (2-4) scored a pair of late touchdowns.
The Loggers led 7-0 after the first quarter before building a 29-7 lead at the halftime.
Jeff Offenbecher threw a TD pass to Jay Beagle and ran for another. Chandler Bower returned an interception for a touchdown.
Libby has outscored its opponents 249-59.
The Loggers will have a tough road test Friday as they travel to Dillon to take on the Beaverhead County Beavers in a Class A Western Division clash.
Libby sits atop the Northwest standings while Dillon is tied for first in the Southwest at 5-1 with Frenchtown.
Dillon routed Browning 41-0, Friday. When Libby opened the season in Browning, it won 35-12.
Defensively, the Loggers continued their stifling play as several players turned in strong performances.
Cayman Lee led with 13 tackles while Ryder Davis, David Patterson and Luke Foreman each had 10 stops.
Lee had 1.5 sacks while Patterson had one. Foreman, Tanner Marshall and Riley Vogel each were credited with one-half sack.
The Loggers collected three Butte turnovers with Davis recovering a fumble and Bower and Patterson each intercepting passes.
Patterson returned his pick for 25 yards while Bower had a 10-yard gain.
