Libby's Cheroske wins Wilderness Run
Libby’s John Cheroske was an easy winner in Saturday’s Wilderness Run at the South Flower Creek cross country ski area.
It’s the second year Libby has held the run and despite wet and muddy conditions, the event had more participants and bystanders than the previous year.
Cheroske won the boys race with a time of 18:19.73, about 14 seconds ahead of Eureka’s Chaidh Lochridge.
Eureka beat the Loggers overall, placing its runners second through seventh.
Lochridge finished in 18:33.71 while teammate Gavin Bates was third in 18:35.08.
Libby’s Lucky Martin ran a faster time than he did on the course last year finishing at 20:05.23.
In the girls race, Eurkea’s Maya Carvey was the winner in 23:49.92 while Libby’s Halona LaFleur was the top Lady Logger, and second overall, in 24:08.18. Libby’s Aurora Smith was third overall, running a 24:13.46.
