Michael D. Shock, 69, of Libby, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He moved with his family to the Kalispell area when he was a young child. He attended Kalispell schools, and was involved in Search and Rescue.

Mike moved to Oregon in the 1980’s and honed his carpentry skills, which became his main occupation until he retired. In 1991, he married his best friend and soulmate, Anita. They moved to Libby in 2006 and together with his beloved dog, Maggie, they explored many mountain roads and took in all the beauty of God’s creation.

Survivors include his wife Anita, Libby; his dog Maggie; a brother Tom Shock (lee), Cut Bank, Montana; a sister-in-Christ Cozette Geary, Meridian, Idaho; daughters Mindy Haroldsen, Kearns, Utah; Charisma Kepford, McMinnville, Oregon; sons Chris Edin, Kansas City, Kansas; Keven Edin, Johnson City, Tennessee; and four grandchildren.

Michael always invited people to “stop in, the coffee pot is always on”, so a coffee/cookie open house is planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Sunday, June 2, at the Libby Volunteer Ambulance barn, 307 Montana Avenue, Libby. Anyone who desires to stop in and visit Michael’s family is encouraged to do so. Memorials may be made to Kootenai Pets for Life or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Libby. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
