Ben Graham Tournament new dates

The annual Ben Graham Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on a new weekend this year.

The tournament will run from Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 9.

In a release from organizers, the reason given for the date change was the late spring this year and the hope for better weather.

The tournament will open with an optional practice round June 7, followed by a derby at 5:30 p.m. There will be $200 added money to the derby.

On Saturday, rounds will begin at 8 a.m. Participants can call the clubhouse to make a group or request to be put into a group.

Dinner will be provided Saturday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

Entry fees remain $70 for members, $90 for non members and $130 for professionals.

There will also be $50 amateur KPs Saturday and Sunday on the par 3s.

The long drive competition will have $100 added to the prize money.

Deuce pot and skins games will also be available.

There will be a special competition for past Logger Golfers.

Ben Graham was a standout golfer for Libby High School before graduating in 1973. He is included in the Libby High School Hall of Fame. In college, he was an NCAA All American for three years before turning pro in 1978.

Graham was a teacher at a golf school in Stratton, Vermont, when his life ended at 30. Graham died in 1985 in an early-morning car accident near Happy’s Inn while on an ice fishing trip to McGregor Lake.

The Ben Graham Tournament honors his life and commitment to golf, especially kids playing golf. Proceeds from the tournament go to the support of youth golf in Libby.

In the release, organizers offered thanks to all donating businesses and individuals that make it a special event.
