KNF has more than enough timber

In the April 2 issue of the Western News, I was struck by the following quote from Barry Dexter, of Stimson Lumber Co, referring to the need for a “steady reliable flow of timber” to support a sawmill in Libby: “...Stimson Lumber needs at least a quarter of a million acres of timber.”

Ahem, there are 2.2 million acres of timber surrounding Libby which, according to their own inventory, is growing at a net of more than 500 million board feet per year. It’s called the Kootenai National Forest (KNF).

Only a spineless Congress (which created this mess), extreme radical environmental groups fueled by the Equal Access to Justice Act (EAJA), and truckloads of cash from “elite” leftists thousands of miles from Montana keep the bountiful resources of the KNF from being used for the benefit of Libby, Lincoln County, Montana, and the United States.
