Caitlin Alifirenka, one of the authors of “I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives,” will be presenting a community event in Troy on Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in the Troy High School auditorium.

As part of Troy’s second One Book, One Community Read, Ms. Alifirenka’s presentation will be the final event of the week. In addition to Ms. Alifirenka’s visit, the Troy Branch of the Public Library will also be hosting a discussion group on the book Wednesday, March 13 at 3 p.m. Other events will be hosted within the schools.

Sponsored and funded by Troy School District, the One Book, One Community Read is meant to encourage multi-generational discussion and interaction over the reading of a common title. I Will Always Write Back, the true story of two strangers who became friends through a school penpal assignment, has engaged students and adults in Troy with its inspiring story of friendship and kindness.

Everyone is welcome to attend Ms. Alifirenka’s presentation and it is free to all. Donations will be accepted for a Seattle Children’s Hospital toy drive, sponsored by Alaiyah Rodgers and Lincoln County Kids for a Cause, a student group aimed at putting kindness into action.
