March is National Red Cross Month

| March 12, 2019 4:00 AM

There’s no better time to roll up your sleeves, get involved in your community and join our team.

Almost every day in Montana, the Red Cross responds to a disaster, many right here in Lincoln County. Our Disaster Action Team volunteers are often some of the first on the scene, delivering food, shelter and support to families following a flood or house fire.

The Red Cross also collects lifesaving blood and keeps Montana’s hospital shelves stocked. Blood ambassador volunteers welcome our blood donors, while volunteer transportation specialists deliver blood to medical facilities throughout the state.

We install free smoke alarms in Montana homes as part of our Home Fire Campaign and teach elementary students how to be prepared in case of disaster through the Pillowcase Project, a great volunteer opportunity for retired educators.

Service to the Armed Forces volunteers make sure military families have access to the resources they need before and after a deployment.

These are just a few of the volunteer opportunities available through Red Cross, where the training is free, but the payoff is priceless.

Donate blood, install a smoke alarm, support a military family … if you can think of it, Red Cross gives you the opportunity to make a difference.
