The Lincoln County Health Department hosted an ATV safety workshop for children from around the county, June 11 at J Neils Memorial Park in Libby.

Jennifer McCully, Lincoln County public health manager, said a state grant gave the Lincoln County Health Department extra funding for injury prevention activities.

“We hear so much about adult deaths and injuries on ATVs,” she said.

Everytime there is a death of someone under the age of 18, the health department works through the Fetal, Infant, Child & Maternal Mortality Review program to investigate the death, she said. The goal of the program is to figure out how to prevent that from happening in the future.
