Troy Police Chief Katie Davis presented letters of commendation to Troy Police officers at the Troy City Council work meeting Wednesday.

The officers were commended for their actions May 21, taking potentially life-saving action after a teenage boy was shot accidentally in the leg during a hunting accident.

The four officers recognized were Meghen O’Brien, Travis Miller, Michael Miller and Henry Roy.

O’Brien is also a volunteer EMT with the Troy Volunteer Ambulance. She and Michael Miller both work as Troy dispatchers.

On the day in question, Troy reserve officers O’Brien and Michael Miller were called up to assist during an ongoing manhunt.

O’Brien was one of the first officers on scene when a teenage boy was brought to the TVA ambulance barn, and she and Roy applied a police-issued tourniquet to stop the bleeding from a large wound to the young man’s upper leg.
