Kendall Onstott
Kendall “Ken” C. Onstott, 78, of Troy, Montana, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at his home in Troy. He was born November 9, 1940 in Newport, Oregan, to Sterling and Lola (Bernard) Onstott.
Ken spent most of his adolescent years in Colville, Washington. At age 16, with permission from his parents and the swift writing ability of his recruiter, Ken joined the U.S. Army. He received an honorable discharge in 1959 and returned to Colville, where he married his high school sweetheart, Georgia Rotter, in December of 1963.
Ken pursued a career in the timber industry and they relocated to the Pacific Northwest, where he worked with ITT Rainier until changes in the timber industry. Having three children and a dream to visit Alaska, they moved to Southeast Alaska, remotely locating from job site to job site. They ended up in Juneau, Alaska, where Ken drove professionally for Channel Construction. He finally retired from the Alaska Logging Association in 2003.
Soon after, they made their home in Troy, the place they called “Their little Piece of Heaven.” Ken left many memories and stories the family can share with one another. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Lola; his most beautiful wife, Georgia; brothers, Truckston and Donald; and son-in-law, Troy Hull.
Survivors include his children Kari Hull, Stewart Onstott, Celeste White (Richard); brother, Bud Onstott of Vallejo, California; grandchildren Firinichia Estevez (Gill), Samuel Blue (Sandrenia), Krista Joleen Onstott, Jonathon Onstott, Amanda Onstott and Makenzie DeRego; and great-grandchildren Kaleb Martin, Maci Onstott, Marley Onstott, Natalie Onstott, Isabella Onstott and Trinity Onstott.
