Winslow signs to play basketball at UM-W
Libby High School star-athlete Jayden Winsloe has signed a NAIA National Letter of Intent to play basketball for University of Montana Western in Dillon.
Winslow is averaging 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.7 steals a game as a senior. She is a two-time first-team all-conference selection, and was named to the second-team as a freshman.
The three-sport athlete is a two-time all-state selection in volleyball and a two-time second-team all-conference in softball.
“Jayden is a very skilled guard with good size,” said UWM women’s basketball Head Coach Lindsay Woolley. “We really like how well she shoots the ball, and her instincts for the game are already at a high level. She is going to have a great career as a Bulldog.”
Jayden is the daughter of Libby Head Coach Wally and Cami Winslow and will graduate from Libby High School in the spring of 2019. She is a member of the National Honor Society and four-time Academic All-State selection, and plans on majoring in biology/pre-pharmacy at Montana Western.
Wally Winslow said that while his daughter knew this was coming, but seeing the release about the signing on the UWM website seemed to make it more real.
“She’s excited to continue to play basketball,” he said. “She’s put a ton of time in. She works really hard -- she has for a long time -- and so it’s nice to see things like this, the chance to continue to play, for kids like Jayden.”
Winslow said that he liked the program and coach at UWM, and that it will be a good fit for Jayden Winslow.
“It’s a good fit for her, their style of play. With her skill set, it’s a good fit. So, we’ll see what happens in the next four years,” he said.
