No measels cases reported in Montana

According to an update from the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, no measles cases have been reported in Montana since 1990.

The note was made in a recent public health update by the department in response to rumors of measles being reported in the Bozeman area.

Lincoln County Public Health Nurse Trista Gilmore shared the update in an email. She stated that she had received inquiries regarding the rumor about measels being reported in Bozeman.

According to the department, the last case of measles diagnosed in Montana was in 1990.

As of Sunday, 61 cases of measles had been reported in Clark County, Washington, with an additional case reported in King County, Washington. The most recent information on the Washington State outbreak can be found at doh.wa.gov/YouandYourFamily/IllnessandDisease/Measles.

The number of Washington cases reported shows a continuing upward trend in cases being diagnosed, as 54 cases had been reported as of Thursday, Feb. 14. However, the continuing increase in cases diagnosed does not conclusively indicate more people have been infected, only that more cases have been diagnosed.
